Understanding Political Committees
Political committees are organizations registered with the Federal Election Commission to raise and spend money in federal elections. They range from candidate campaign committees to Political Action Committees (PACs) and Super PACs.
PACs collect contributions from individuals and donate to candidates, while Super PACs can raise unlimited sums from corporations, unions, and individuals but cannot donate directly to candidates. Each committee type has different rules about contribution limits and disclosure requirements.
Our database indexes every FEC-registered committee with its type designation, party affiliation, and connected industry. Use it to trace the organizational infrastructure behind political spending.
